The duration of your tutorial classes will be 90 minutes each, and every 20 Lesson Hours within your Language Program will function as an Assessment Checkpoint.

During these assessments, your Instructor will have you complete a number of specific tasks designed to establish your language proficiency. Then, within 14 days following the class, you'll be issued a Written Evaluation of how much you have developed in the CEFR Standard since your previous Assessment.

PRE-PROGRAM ASSESSMENT  (FOR NON-BEGINNERS)

This will enable us to make some advance determinations regarding your language competency

and not waste time covering material you have already mastered.

Once your Program has commenced, your progress will be assessed regularly

and your Program will be customised to meet your individual needs.

LSI'S COMMUNICATIVE APPROACH

Language is a resource for communication; it's NOT just a system of rules (as most of our secondary schools seemed to think).

There is virtually no connection between knowing the rules of a language and being able to USE that language effectively and appropriately in daily communication.

With LSI's proven method,

there is no place for the outmoded  and ineffective "drilling methods" of the past.

Modern educational research has shown us that you can only learn to communicate in a language by communicating in that language. With this in mind, LSI's Private Tutorial Classes are designed with one singular goal:  to provide you an ongoing opportunity to develop true communication skills through genuine one-on-one interaction with your Instructor on a series of real-life Topics.

For learners having no previous experience with Bahasa Indonesia, Topics may be as simple as "greeting strangers in a social or business situation" or "giving and receiving directions to a location." For learners with some experience, Topics such as "ecology," "security," "medicine" and "cultural norms" are available to be explored.

LSI's Private Tutorials are particularly beneficial for rapid language acquisition, as they allow a private Instructor who understands your individual needs to customise the training methods and materials to meet those specific needs, and to select Topics for your Tutorial Sessions which address your areas of immediate difficulty.

Whilst language learning can be a slow and arduous process in a general classroom setting, fluency can be attained relatively quickly with the undivided attention of a private Instructor who teaches to your needs alone.

Instead, LSI's curriculum is comprised of series of Topics which you and your Instructor explore during your Tutorial Classes.

As you progress through a series of increasingly-complex Topics, your Instructor will engage you in authentic interaction on a number of subjects, each designed to develop your ability to truly communicate in the various contexts of your personal and professional life.

How long you spend in a given Topic will depend entirely on your progress.

Once you have demonstrated an ability to communicate effectively within the context of a particular Topic, your Instructor will be ready to move on to another more-complex Topic.

LSI's Methodology makes traditional "Course Levelling" unnecessary and irrelevant.

As all LSI instruction is 'private' (1 Instructor with 1 to 4 learners) Tutorial Sessions are customised to meet your individual needs.

The Topics explored during your Tutorial Sessions are neither

"Beginner," "Intermediate" or "Advanced."  They are simply "Topics."

And your Instructor will freely select Topics for your Tutorial Sessions

based on your very specific needs.

The tenth of September 2013.

September the tenth 2013.

• 1 = 1st dibaca The first

• 2 = 2nd dibaca The second

• 3 = 3rd dibaca The third

• 4 = 4th dibaca The fourth

• 5 = 5th dibaca The fifth

• 6 = 6th dibaca The sixth

• 7 = 7th dibaca The seventh

• 8 = 8th dibaca The eight

• 9 = 9th dibaca The ninth

• 10 = 10th dibaca The tenth

• 11 = 11th dibaca The eleventh

• 12 = 12th dibaca The twelfth

• 13 = 13th dibaca The thirteenth

• 14 = 14th dibaca The fourteenth

• 15 = 15th dibaca The fifteenth

• 16 = 16th dibaca The sixteenth

• 17 = 17th dibaca The seventeenth

• 18 = 18th dibaca The eighteenth

• 19 = 19th dibaca The nineteenth

• 20 = 20th dibaca The twentieth

• 21 = 21st dibaca The twenty first

• 22 = 22nd dibaca The twenty second

• 23 = 23rd dibaca The twenty third

• 24 = 24th dibaca The twenty fourth

• 25 = 25th dibaca The twenty fifth

• 26 = 26th dibaca The twenty sixth

• 27 = 27th dibaca The twenty seventh

• 28 = 28th dibaca The twenty eight

• 29 = 29th dibaca The twenty ninth

• 30 = 30th dibaca The thirtieth

Director: Enrique Eguren

Tutor: Sylvain Lefebvre

Designed for: NGOs, social organisations and individuals.

Duration: 60 hours over 12 weeks (approximately 5 hours per week)

Distance learning course via Internet (using the Moodle Virtual Platform)

Hosted by PI training staff (protection experts with extensive training experience in many countries).

Why take this course?

Education and training for Human Rights Defenders is a broad subject with different needs.

One such need, which we consider to be very important, is security. With the present course we aim for human rights defenders to develop various skills, capacities and strategies to allow them to improve the level of security and protection, both for themselves and also for the people they work with.

Who is the course for?

This course is for members of organisations and people whose work involves human rights, social development and humanitarian aid. Proof of experience working in these fields is required, along with the existence, or possible existence, of a risk to their security, because of their work activities.

Armed conflict or political repression, due to their activities as human rights defenders, could be examples of suitability.

Protection and security practice makes real sense in a political and social action context. For that reason we prioritise enrolment of people commissioned by an organisation, association or community, who will be able to use what they have learned on the course, for the organisational development of the institution they belong to (1 to 3 people).

The course requires the exchange of opinions and importance is placed on team work. We will therefore also give priority to the enrolment of groups of 2 to 3 individuals, because we consider them to be interest groups or working groups. We will also accep the enrolment of individuals, but this will depend on the level of group participation.

Firstly, defenders should feel the need/consider it necessary to broaden their knowledge and training concerning security and protection.

Secondly, you must be able to undertake distance learning methodology, since this will be utilised for the course. As with face-to-face/on-site learning, distance learning methodology has its advantages and disadvantages. PI has been organising a variety of on-site training for many years (such as workshops, tutorials and organisational advice), and we have learnt a lot as a result of this experience, especially on the cases and problem solving working methodology.

The objective is to apply the lessons we have learnt into this distance learning course.

Thirdly, it is important to dedicate sufficient time to be able to participate fully in the course and the activities it will include, so organisations, whose members are participants, should bear this in mind.

Finally, the course will be orientated towards practice and will focus on real situations and real problems, as well as security and protection solutions, which are applicable for any organisation.

Technical requirements and duration

The duration of the course is 60 hours over 12 weeks (approximately 5 hours per week).

Those who complete the course and pass the final evaluation will get a certificate on the corresponding course: certificate on Security and Protection for Human Rights Defenders and Social Organisations.

The course has been designed and will be hosted by members of the PRTU of Protection International, who have extensive experience in defenders’ training, in more than thirty countries.

Director: Enrique Eguren

Tutor: Sylvain Lefebvre

Administrator: Ángela Díaz

The admission criteria will be to give priority to those people having the largest potential impact on human rights defenders’ security.

The enrolment fee will depend on various factors – such as country of origin or residence, the institution the participant is involved with, the course duration, etc. In any case we will offer the lowest price possible, to enable participation.
